I have a severe case of mental depression, and suicidal thoughts… this is not something that i want to do (die).. Yeah, i am emo. whatever.. i am trying to find something i can buy over the counter that can calm my anxiety and depression if there is anything..
I dont have the money to see a psych doc.
And i dont know how much more pain my body can endure before i crack.
I have started cutting with little knicks and knacks, i have had a belt around my neck and tried to hang myself from my door, i have tried drowning and suffocating myself.. each time i stop myself before its too late but i dont want it to get to the point where it is too late.. i need some help =(
what would a hotline number be that could help, also.. what would i search for via free clinic?
currently my budget is allowing me to survive via rent+bills & food with maybe 20-30 bucks left over after the months end. =/
i live in culver city california, and if you know a way of finding a free clinic for these problems i would be very grateful.
Culver City, Venice, Marina Del Rey, santa monica would be great places for my commute =/

Do you have a regular doctor or clinic you can go to? St. John’s wort is supposedly for depression, but the cost of herbal remedies aren’t worth it over time. Besides, you need specific meds for your nervous system malfunction. Anti depressants are less expensive, they affect dopamine, noradrenaline and seratonin. they don’t work quickly, but take about 4wks or longer for effect. minimum duration is 6 months, longer if neccessary and lifetime if chronic. You cannot self treat this. You are in a dangerous state. The above neurotransmitters affect all body systems, and also your emotions. It’s a physical as well as emotional illness that needs real medication. Please call a hotline for help and perhaps they can give you some sources in your area within your budget. You can’t will it away any different than a diabetic can make their illness go away. Be kind to yourself. It doesn’t mean you are crazy and the meds won’t change personality. Go to Effexor.com and review phases of depression.
If you’re at the point where your thinking about suicide, OTC remedies are not going to help. They’re just not potent enough. Plus you don’t want to be taking anything without medical supervision, as you could possibly have an allergic reaction, severe mood change, or worse.
Call your county’s department of mental health and tell them that you cannot afford to see a psychiatrist but you are in serious need of help. They’ll be able to refer you to a doctor that takes patients on a sliding scale.
Also, if you have a medical school in your area, look into their psychiatric services. They’re usually on a sliding scale as well.
You can try going to a free clinic and see if they’ll prescribe anything for you. This may not be the best solution, but it can work until you find a psychiatrist.
