Do an Internet search for the following herb, St. Johns Wort, you can get it at any pharmacy or at most grocery stores also I am sure. Read about it and see if you think it could b what you are looking.
Try St Johns Wort,it is a hebal remedy.Good luck.
There are no anti depressants that can be obtained over the counter. There is a herb called St. John’s wart that is suppose to help elevate the mood of those that are feeling depressed. There is also a hormone called endorphins but you can only get that when you exercise. It is what is released in your body while/after you exercise with some vigor.
If you are feeling really depressed, I would suggest that you speak with your doctor, who can prescribe a small dosage of an antidepressant which might be of some help.
All antidepressant medication requires a prescription. These are powerful medicines that are designed to effect your brain chemistry, and their effects should be monitored by a physician.
Some people have recommended St. John’s Wort for depression. Clinical trials on this herb have unfortunately have shown it has absolutely no effect in controlled studies. It appears the effects earlier reported came more from placebo effect than real clinical improvement.
Why do you want over the counter anti-depressants? There really are none. Some herbs like St. John’s Wort have anti-depressant effects. You don’t give a hint about your age except for your name. Depression is a very serious medical condition that needs to be managed by a health professional. It can be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain or can be situational but a doctor needs to evaluate the cause and then decide which of the many treatments would be of most value.
Try taking 5-HTP, L-Tyrosine, Vitamin B-6,Vitamin B-12, and Folic Acid. All these should be available at Walmart and GNC.
A couple of suggestions, try St. Johns Wart, a natural suppliment. Watch what you are eating; sugar, alcohol and unhealthy foods contribute to depression. Make sure you get enough sun light and Vit. D. Exercise makes endorphins in your brain and that will boost your mood.
