it is recommended to take St. John’s Wort for medication for depression, but if it’s serious i really suggest going to a doctor when you can.

Some people have had success with SAM-e and with 5-htp.
These can both be found at the health food stores and some general drugstores.

I have used them both for mild depression, and they helped.
St. John’s Wort had no effect for me personally.

sadly, there really isn’t…..i faced the same problem for a long time, and didn’t really get the treatment i needed until i finally got to see a doctor. some say that St. John’s Wort is effective in treating depression….it is an over the counter herbal. i hope this helps :) also - u may want to try working out and taking very good care of yourself - pamper yourself. when you treat yourself really good it can make you feel better too.

Some forms of depression can be treated with vitamins and a change in diet as well as a change in ones out look on life .

Try 5HTP or St John’s Wort. Also, exercise is PROVEN to raise serotonin levels as effectively as Rx SSRI’s.

i have gotten help from a doc and on my own.

seeing the doc was ok but doing my own stuff was best.

on my own i started studying the occult spacificaly the kabalah. after that i saw the doc but because of a disagreement with her i no longer see her. now i am studying a book called energy medicine by donna eden. this book is extreemly helpfull so give it a try. also go to emofree.com and get the free course. you can buy the extended courses but they seem more like a wast of money too me. if you want i could just email the free package to you, i should still have it saved on here.

See depression and insomnia at on pages 2 & 3, and try your county/local mental health agency, or the Catholic or Methodist churches for therapy. If there is a health food/vitamin store nearby, inquire as to the availability of the remedies listed, like Arctic root, and St. John’s Wort is in many supermarkets (vitamin section), but can take a fair while to be fully effective. The EFT method at emo free is provided by Dr. Mercola at no cost.

    B-6
    B-12
    St John’s wort
    Omega-III fish oils

    (^ not expensive)

    SAM-e
    (kinda expensive)

    long walks ….
    not expensive

    yoga in the morning
    not expensive

a bit of meditation would help too

    good luck

When you’re in depression, a deep depression, there is no help in otc medicines. Try calling a county hospital and ask if there are some group therapy sessions for depression that you could attend for free. You could probably get a lot of questions answered there. I wish you well.

i’ve been taking 5-HTP (Natrol brand) and it’s been helping a little for my severe anxiety and mild depression and I’ve tried just about everything OTC becuz I also can’t afford to go see a doc right now (waiting on my insurance card) and the 5-HTP is honestly the only thing that has made even the slightest difference in my mood - u might wanna try it

  11. Tabatha says:

If you try St John’s Wort, remember it interacts with many other medications, as well as the birth control pill.

You can’t take it if you’re also trying anti depressants, either.
